As the need for more sustainable solutions become ever more prominent throughout the UK, WJ DeckWright team have developed a new modular design for timber caravan and park home decking.
The design comes as an alternative to uPVC plastic decking which currently dominates the market with our timber decking holding many advantages vs uPVC. The main module is the decking podium, a free-standing podium aligned to a similar height to a caravan door that comes with either glass or timber balustrades. This main module can be attached easily to more of the same modules, allowing endless options for the best use of available space surrounding a caravan or park home.
Connecting to the podium, we offer other modules to enhance the end-user’s decking experience. Steps can be easily attached to the decking podiums to create easy access. The steps are available with one or two handrails and are all built using DeckWright anti-slip decking boards for year-round use. Decking steps can be single or double width and attached to either the short or long side of the decking podiums.
As well as steps, we offer access ramps for users with varying levels of mobility. The ramps also work well for easier access for push prams and bicycles. We have also designed gates to fit onto the modules for steps and ramps to add security and to enhance the usability of the deck for end users with dogs or small children.
This new offering has gone through CAD design and strength analysis by our technical in-house design team. With all quotes, we offer a scale drawings. As part of WJ Group, we make use of our DeckWright anti-slip treatment for the decking boards which provides a sure-footed experience for the decking users, far exceeding most plastic PTV scores.
The modular design provides a fast installation and each of the podiums come with levelling feet to adhere to slight slopes or changes in the ground levels. This new design is offered with a range of hardwood, softwood and thermally modified species and can also be provided as a Euroclass B fire rated timber deck in certain species. We have successfully installed our first deck at Dacre Lakeside Park in Brandesburton and have had fantastic feedback from the end user, park owner and neighbouring residents.
